The joint venture aims to create large scale power plants and data centers. Recently the emergence of a new AI chatbot from a Chinese company has sparked discussions about the competition between the US and China in AI development, with many comparing the capabilities of this new chatbot to US companies in the field.

President Donald Trump also signed an executive order last week removing previous restrictions that he claimed were barriers to AI innovation in the US. Additionally he announced a new joint venture that plans to invest $500 billion in infrastructure to support AI development with a new entity called Stargate which will be backed by Oracle and SoftBank.

The Chevron Engine No. 1 and GE partnership plans to start their first projects known as power foundries which will use GE’s 7HA natural gas turbines to provide power to data centers in the Southeast Midwest and West regions of the United States. The project aims to provide energy for up to 3 to 3.5 million homes with the first phase expected to be operational by the end of 2027.

This energy project is expected to help the United States maintain its leadership in AI development drive economic growth and reinforce the country’s position as an industrial power.
